For some of you who don't know, Minecraft is getting the NVIDIA ray tracing technology, and Beta is already out on Windows 10.
Ray tracing is probably one of NVIDIA's most advanced technologies, it significantly boosts lighting effects, truly provides the Hollywood movie level visuals to the game. However, the prerequisite is quite demanding, not only it requires an RTX 2000 series NVIDIA graphics card, but also not many games support this technology.
With this level of requirement, it's normal to assume that game developers would like to put ray tracing on their latest AAA title games. So out of every big title out there, no one would expect Minecraft would be getting ray tracing.
However, Minecraft getting ray tracing is truly a genius idea.
As I stated earlier, Minecraft is a 9-year-old game with very low requirement, this game can even run on mobile platforms such as IOS and Android.
Minecraft is not a game that aims to impress people with its graphics, and that's why putting ray tracing on Minecraft can really show how much of a difference ray tracing can make. Check below for the graphics comparison.

Ray tracing adds a dreamy look to the original gloomy environment, the texture also looks more detailed. It also changes the overall colour scheme, the game appears a lot brighter, it's really surprising to see that an old game can get such a graphics upgrade without using new texture.
NVIDIA isn't the only one getting benefits from Minecraft's ray tracing, it also benefits Minecraft. With the new graphics upgrade, Minecraft's graphics are able to stay on par with many modern games.
While it already has such a large player base, not only will it keep existing players in the game, but it also can potentially attract new players, since there aren't many games out there that support ray tracing.
